Sunken Cheeks

With age, gravity shifts the soft tissue and fat down towards the jaw line. The cheek bone becomes pronounced causing a depression between the cheek bone and the jaw line, which gives the face a tired and aging outlook. While age, fat loss and sun damage are the major contributors to this condition, other factors such as a high metabolism, genetic predisposition, weight loss due to exercise or severe illness also cause sunken cheeks to appear. Aging cheeks can also cause a hollowing effect around the eyes causing the person to look unwell and more aged than they actually are.

Most procedures for treating sunken cheeks work on stimulating collagen, and restoring volume and strength to the malar region to give you a more youthful and fresh looking facial skin.

Who can be treated?

Men and women of any age and all skin types who wish to be treated for the significant loss in subcutaneous fat and would like the restoration of the youthful appearance they once enjoyed.

How do we treat?

At Binsina Laser Clinic, we treat sunken cheeks by stimulating collagen to tighten skin and reduce the impact of hollowness. Treatments are carefully selected from the following set of procedures after a thorough examination of the area to be treated.

How do these treatments work?

Titan uses infra-red light to heat tissue in the deep dermis. During the Titan treatment, the patient first feels cool, then a brief heating sensation followed by a cool feeling with each pulse. There is minimal downtime and the results are amazing.

The eTwo Sublime procedure uses a combination of infrared light and bi-polar radio frequency to provide controlled deep dermal heating, which both stimulates new collagen and improves aged collagen to reduce deep wrinkles and tighten skin. During the procedure some patients feel a warm sensation while others can experience a slight pinching sensation.

The Portrait Plasma uses the plasma technology (plasma is the fourth state of matter) that works by delivering millisecond pulses of nitrogen plasma energy both on and below the surface of the skin to modify the skin’s architecture so that new collagen is generated leaving a healthy and even skin with an improved tone and texture.

How many treatments will I need?

Each treatment regimen is different and varies from case to case depending upon age, skin damage, genetic disposition, medical, and environmental factors. Most patients can expect between 3 to 4 treatments to see improvement. More mature skin would require additional treatments. A periodic top up treatment is recommended to continue to enjoy the youthfulness of your skin.

When will I see the results?

Results depend upon the age and condition of the skin. Some patients start to see early results over a period of 2 – 4 weeks. Others may take longer to see improvements. Further improvements continue to be observed for several months of the treatment.

Are there any side effects?

Generally, there are minimum side effects such as slight redness or mild swelling in the treated area, which is generally temporary. In some cases they can last from one to two days. In others, they can last from five to seven days as tiny scabs form and eventually fall off leaving a pink and healthy skin. Patients are advised not to expose the treated area to direct sunlight, very hot water and abrasive cleansers for some time. For best results it is recommended that patients always use a sunscreen of SPF 30+ when outdoors. Patients are strongly advised to follow post-care instructions provided by the Clinic to minimize risks and achieve desired results.
