Skin Resurfacing

What is Skin Resurfacing?

Aging is a natural phenomenon. It cannot be stopped but its progress can be reduced by innovative procedures. Sun exposure, genetic disposition and lifestyle factors including diet, alcohol consumption and smoking contribute to wrinkling of skin on the face and other parts of the body. Pigmentation of the skin, especially on the face and décolleté, showing up as blotchiness or brown spots, may also occur with age or as a result of taking contraceptive pills, pregnancy or genetic factors. In some cases, acne scars may have made the skin surface uneven and pitted. These and other skin conditions could be improved by the art of skin resurfacing.

Who can be treated?

Men and women of any age and skin type who wish to treat skin laxity, surface wrinkles, redness, brown spots or enlarged pores as being the most common conditions.

What areas can be treated?

The most common treatment areas are the face and the neck, but other areas such as hands, arms, and abdomen can also be treated.

How do we treat these skin conditions?

We can treat the above and other skin conditions in many ways. One procedure does not treat all conditions and skin surfaces. Each treatment regime is custom tailored for individual patients and depends upon their age and skin condition as well as medical and environmental factors. Your dermatologist at Binsina Laser Clinic can advise you the best treatment or combination of treatments suited to your condition. Treatments are carefully selected from the following set of procedures after a thorough examination and computerized analysis of the area to be treated.

What do treatments feel like?

In the eTwo Sublative procedure a topical aesthetic is applied to the treatment area. During the procedure some patients feel a warm sensation while others can experience a slight pinching sensation like a rubber band snapping. The procedure uses a combination of infrared light and bi-polar radio frequency to provide controlled deep dermal heating, which both stimulates new collagen and improves aged collagen to reduce deep wrinkles and tighten skin.

The Portrait Plasma uses the plasma technology (plasma is the fourth state of matter) that works by delivering millisecond pulses of nitrogen plasma energy both on and below the surface of the skin to modify the skin’s architecture so that new collagen is generated leaving a healthy and even skin with an improved tone and texture. There is some downtime involved but the results are amazing.

How many treatments will I need?

Each treatment regimen is different and varies from case to case depending upon age, skin condition, hormonal imbalances, genetic disposition, medical, environmental and dietary factors. Most patients can expect between 3 to 6 treatments. A periodic top-up treatment is recommended to continue to enjoy the benefits of a younger and fresher complexion.

When will I see the results?

Some patients start to see early results immediately while others may see noticeable difference over a period of 2 – 4 weeks. Improvements continue to be observed for several months after the treatment.

Are there any side effects?

There are minimum side effects such as slight redness or mild swelling in the treated area, which is generally temporary. In some cases they can last from one to two days. In others, they can last from five to seven days as tiny scabs form and eventually fall off leaving a pink and healthy skin. Patients are advised not to expose the treated area to direct sunlight, very hot water and abrasive cleansers for some time. For best results it is recommended that patients always use a sunscreen of SPF 30+ when outdoors. Patients are strongly advised to follow post-care instructions provided by the Clinic to minimize risks and achieve the desired results.

What are the benefits of Non-Surgical Skin Resurfacing treatments?

  • No cutting or puncturing of the skin
  • No surgery required
  • Minimal discomfort
  • Minimal risk of change in skin
  • May be used for all skin types
  • Minimal or no downtime

*Benefits and risks may vary from case to case and will depend on size and type of skin being treated, age, hereditary, medical, hormonal and life style factors.

How do Binsina’s treatments compare with those of other laser treatments?

At Binsina Laser Clinic, we take a comprehensive approach to individually treating all common skin conditions such as age spots, sun damage, enlarged pores, acne and acne scars, pigmentation and melasma, stretch marks, fine lines and coarse wrinkles, thread and leg vein removal, as well as skin laxity.
