Pigment Treatment

What is Pigmentation?

Pigmentation is the coloring of the skin caused by the presence of melanin in the skin cells. When some cells become damaged or unhealthy, it affects melanin production which causes discoloration of the skin in that area. Too much melanin causes the skin to be darker, and too little makes the skin lighter, than normal. When several brown patches appear in a certain area of the skin, the condition is called hyper-pigmentation.

What causes Pigmentation?

Continuous exposure to the sun can cause pigmented disorders such as ephelides (freckles), solar lentigines, and rough and irregular skin texture. Vascular disorders such telangiectasias (dilated blood vessels) or diffused redness can also occur.

Pigmentation Improvement

At Binsina Laser Clinic, we begin with a surface and sub-surface analysis of your skin using the unique computerized Visia Skin & Complexion Analysis system, which assists in identifying and measuring the development of pores, porphyrins, wrinkles, photo damage and other problems below the skin surface.

Using a combination of cross-polarized and UV lightening mechanisms, this system allows you to visibly see in 3D the freckles, red & brown spots, wrinkles and fine lines currently developing underneath the surface of your skin. These skin changes are not visible to the naked eye, but if left unattended, they will show up on the skin surface in the future.

By simulating the ageing process through computerized digital imaging, we can show how you would possibly look in 5 – 7 years unless you start on a preventive skin care programme now. Furthermore, the RBX technology enables processing of the red and brown developments below the skin surface to reveal the unequaled visualization of conditions such as rosacea, acne, hyperpigmentation and spider veins.

Pigmentation and related problems are treated at Binsina Laser Clinic with several procedures depending upon the nature and extent of the damage to the skin. Our HydraFacial, LimeLight Facial, Laser Genesis and other procedures can give amazing results. We use a combination of procedures to achieve the desired results. Results can vary on a case by case basis depending upon the severity of the pigmentation, or related problem, size of the affected area, age, hereditary, medical environmental and dietary factors among others.

How do we treat the above conditions?

A combination of our HydraFacial, Laser Genesis and Lime Light Facial procedures has produced very effective results in treating all the above conditions.

What treatment is right for me?

At Binsina Laser Clinic, we custom-tailor the treatments for each individual patient to obtain the best results. Depending upon the severity of the problem, the dermatologist will prescribe a step-up treatment programme to achieve the desired outcome. Since each case is different, this programme can include either one type of treatment procedure or a combination of different procedures and topical applications designed to treat the above and related skin conditions.

How many treatments will I need?

Normally you can expect up to five treatments to improve any of these conditions; however, the actual number of treatments will depend upon the severity of the condition, extent of damage caused to the skin, as well as genetic, medical, and environmental factors.

Does it hurt?

Tolerance of pain is very individual from person to person. No anesthetics are required and there is no pain or downtime in any of these procedures.

When will I see the results?

Results depend upon the age and condition of the skin. Some patients start to see early results over a period of 2 – 4 weeks. Others may take longer to see improvements. Further improvements continue to be observed for several months after the treatment.

Are there any side effects?

Generally, there are minimum side effects such as slight redness or mild swelling in the treated area, which are generally temporary and dissipate over a few hours. Patients are advised not to expose the treated area to direct sunlight, very hot water and abrasive cleansers for some time. A sunscreen of SPF30+ must be worn when outdoors. Patients are strongly advised to follow post-care instructions provided by the Clinic to minimize risks and achieve the desired results.

How do Binsina’s treatments compare with those of other laser treatments?

Most laser procedures generally treat one or two skin conditions such as red or brown spots, or skin laxity. At Binsina Laser Clinic, we take a comprehensive approach to individually treating all common skin conditions such as age spots, sun damage, enlarged pores, acne and acne scars, pigmentation and melasma, stretch marks, fine lines and coarse wrinkles, thread and leg vein removal, as well as skin laxity. There is a different treatment approach to each skin condition and the best treatment or combination of treatments can be advised by your dermatologist at Binsina Laser Clinic.
