Hair removal

Hair removal

No more painful waxing, electrolysis, tweezing or razors. At Binsina laser Clinic, we use the latest laser technology, the American FDA approved Gentle YAG system, to safely and effectively reduce unwanted hair on skin of all types and tones. In particular it is well suited for Asian and dark skin types, and even patients with a suntan can be treated.

The Gentle YAG Difference

The Gentle YAG was designed to be the most outstanding laser hair removal system on the market for all skin types, from light to dark, including tanned patients. Its unique design, longer wavelength, and innovative cooling allow extremely effective and safe results.

The laser creates a beam of high-intensity light, which penetrates deep into skin tissue where it delivers a controlled amount of targeted therapeutic heat. Candela’s patented Dynamic Cooling Device technology protects the upper layers of the skin with a cooling burst of cryogen. Together, the long-pulse laser and DCD cooling offer optimal treatment with minimal side effects for all types of skin.

Treatment for Hair Removal

The Binsina Difference

The rate of hair growth and hair density vary from person to person and are influenced by several elements such as age, genetic, hormonal, dietary, general health and environmental factors. At Binsina Laser Clinic these and other factors are taken into consideration by qualified therapists under the supervision of a dermatologist to custom tailor hair removal treatments for optimal results. The process is most effective when the hair follicle is in its active growth phase.

What skin types are treated for permanent hair reduction?

We treat skin types 1 – 6 safely and effectively with the Gentle YAG procedure. In particular, it is very effective on Asian and Afro-Caribbean skin types (4 – 6).

How do I prepare for the treatment?

Ideally clients should avoid plucking, electrolysis or hair waxing for six weeks prior to treatment. Any hair growth on the area to be treated must be completely removed by shaving. Moreover, the skin should be thoroughly cleansed and free of makeup, creams, oils, topical anesthetics, and skin-tanning products prior to laser treatment. Clients who have a history of herpes simplex virus and are scheduled for facial hair removal treatment must take prophylactic anti-viral therapy before treatment.

What can I expect during the treatment?

As the therapist guides the Gentle YAG hand piece over the treatment area a beam of high-intensity light penetrates deep into the skin tissue where it delivers a controlled amount of targeted therapeutic heat. This light may be preceded by a short pulse of cooling spray. A treatment could take as little as a few minutes to as long as an hour, depending on the area and skin condition being treated.

Does it hurt?

When the pulse of light is delivered, some patients experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation akin to the snapping of a rubber band on the skin. The cooling spray helps to reduce the level of discomfort. No local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required.

What happens after the treatment?

Immediately following your treatment, the area may appear a bit red and swollen. A cool gel pack may be applied to provide comfort and reduce the swelling. Three to seven days after treatment you may experience what seems to be re-growth of hair. Actually, most of these hairs are being shed as a result of your treatment and are not re-growing. Between treatments you should not wax or pluck your hair, but it is permissible to shave.

What are the post-treatment precautions?

Prevent sun exposure at least two weeks after the treatment. Tanning sprays and lotions must also be avoided. You must apply a good sunblock (SPF 30+) if you have to go outdoors. Avoid use of very hot water, scrubbing or rinsing the treated area with abrasive skin cleansers.

How many treatments will I need?

Most body areas require 4-6 treatments on average. However, the actual number of treatments required for optimal long-term benefits depends on multiple factors – hair thickness, the area treated, skin condition and your hair’s growth cycle.

What are the possible side effects?

Although patients experience few side effects, the most commonly noticed are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin, similar to sunburn. These effects typically last for several hours or less. In rare instances, blistering, hyperpigmentation and purpura (a laser bruise) may occur. Permanent side effects are rare. Consult with your medical professional for complete information on the benefits and risks of treatment.

How do Binsina’s treatments compare with those of other laser treatments?

Most laser procedures generally treat one or two skin conditions such as red or brown spots, or skin laxity. At Binsina Laser Clinic, we take a comprehensive approach to individually treating all common skin conditions such as age spots, sun damage, enlarged pores, acne and acne scars, pigmentation and melasma, stretch marks, fine lines and coarse wrinkles, thread and leg vein removal, as well as skin laxity. There is a different treatment approach to each skin condition and the best treatment or combination of treatments can be advised by your dermatologist at Binsina Laser Clinic.
